Jacksonville-Based FreshJax Is Spicing Up Home Cooking

Credit: FreshJax

Handcrafted in Jacksonville, FreshJax Organic Spices began in the kitchen of Jason and Hillary McDonald. In 2011, the couple began making organic sauces and spices and selling them at their local farmers market on the weekends while attending graduate school. As customers requested new items, their product line continued to grow and the McDonalds worked around the clock to fulfill orders. By the end of 2012, both Jason and Hillary had begun working full time for FreshJax.

Today, the growing family business includes a product line featuring flavors from around the globe. They offer more than 30 spice blends made with certified organic ingredients and more than 40 organic single-ingredient spices while fulfilling their mission to excite taste buds, inspire healthy living and end childhood hunger. For every gift set or two large bottles sold, the company donates one meal to a child in need. They have now donated over 200,000 meals to hungry children around the United States.
