No matter how you pronounce it, pecans make a delicious snack. And no one knows that better than the Renfroe family of Pensacola, the third generation to run J.W. Renfroe Pecan Company, which specializes in pecans, pralines and homemade fudge.

The Renfroes got started in the pecan business back in 1931, when J.W. Renfroe Sr. began selling and distributing pecans wholesale. His son, Jake, took over the business, moving the hub to Florida in 1956, and the second and third generations expanded by opening a retail store and starting catalog sales. Today, the company operates several distribution centers in Florida, Alabama and Georgia.

While the Renfroes are still famous for their pecans, they also offer an assortment of other nuts, including raw, roasted, candied and salted varieties, as well as fudge and New Orleans-style pralines.
